Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to enhance our team. This position involves working in a collaborative environment, providing care to patients with diverse respiratory conditions.
Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist include:
Delivering continuous respiratory care in a multidisciplinary environment for patients with various respiratory conditions, including both acute and chronic illnesses. Functioning independently and as part of a collaborative team to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Engaging in consultations and teamwork with other healthcare professionals. Committing to ongoing improvement and adherence to best practices in respiratory care. Advancing personal clinical skills and knowledge. Participating in committees, teams, and approved research initiatives as required.Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Successful passage of the Health Professionals Testing Canada Credentialing Exam. Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and the BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of HPTC standards of practice and clinical guidelines. In-depth knowledge of contemporary respiratory care theories and practices within a patient-centered care model. Basic understanding of research methodologies. Proven ability to develop and implement effective care plans. Capability to assess patient responses to treatment and respond appropriately. Flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, solve problems, prioritize tasks, and manage conflicts. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Demonstrated leadership qualities through initiative and independence. Proficiency in utilizing clinical practice documents. Skilled in clinical techniques and the use of relevant equipment and supplies. Competence in CPR techniques. Computer literacy, including proficiency in using computerized patient care information systems. Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.Additional Information
Work hours, including days off and specific work areas, may vary based on operational needs and the provisions of the Collective Agreement and applicable laws. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
