About This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled lawyer to join our team at the Department of Justice in Halifax. As a Lawyer for Department of Justice, you will provide legal advice and representation to the provincial government on various matters, including administrative law, employment law, contracts, regulations, child protection, and litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising Ministers, Deputy/Associate Deputy Ministers, and other senior government leaders on legal matters
  • Drafting and interpreting statutes, regulations, and contracts
  • Assisting with submissions to Cabinet
  • Presenting information to the public and stakeholders
  • Serving on project teams with senior and intermediate staff

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society
  • Experience with civil litigation and commercial transactions is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Will involve sitting at a computer for long periods
  • Will require mental focus and ability to handle pressure situations

Pay and Benefits

Pay grade: LAW I - LAW III, Salary range: $47.11 - $86.92 hourly
