Job Summary

This role oversees screening operations at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, leadership, and security management.

About the Role
  • Oversight of airport screening operations, focusing on achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and maintaining SOP compliance.
  • Built and maintained relationships with stakeholders within aviation security, prioritizing customer satisfaction.
  • Leading a team of Screening Officers, promoting a positive workplace culture rooted in diversity and inclusivity.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
  1. Take ownership of screening checkpoint operations and ensure adherence to SOPs.
  2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues and external partners.
  3. Ensure daily KPI achievement and monitor compliance with SOPs.
  4. Lead and mentor a team of Screening Officers, promoting engagement and motivation.
  5. Conduct regular performance reviews and recommend employee recognition programs.
  6. Implement corrective measures following the progressive discipline process when necessary.
  7. Prepare comprehensive security incident reports, detailing key events, timelines, and actions taken.
  8. Assist Screening Officers in handling escalated operational matters, such as complaints and security incidents.
  9. Conduct workplace investigations under guidance from People & Culture and senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Criminal Justice, or related field; or equivalent experience combined with a year of supervisory/managerial experience in a customer service, operational, or unionized environment.
  • Able to acquire Transportation Security Clearance (TSC) and eligibility for Federal Security Clearance.
  • Minimum three years of work-related experience in a protective service leadership role, preferably in the aviation security industry in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant security and employment legislation.
  • Strong focus on operations, ability to work under pressure, and provide creative solutions.
  • Experience managing personnel in a unionized environment.
  • Proficiency in using office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, shifts, and attend incidents after hours.
  • Strong communication, leadership, client service, and persuasive skills.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
Benefits

$72,500 - $77,500 salary range based on location and experience. Regular working hours are 24/7 positions, with preferred candidates having open availability for morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts. This role is fully based at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YXY).
