About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist in Women's Health to join our team at the University of Manitoba. The successful candidate will provide clinical care and academic support relevant to early pregnancy assessment, contraception, family planning, and abortion provision.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical assessments and provide medical care for patients presenting with bleeding in early pregnancy under 14 weeks
  • Provide first and second trimester abortion care, including preoperative assessment and contraception provision as requested
  • Teach medical learners on rotation and participate in clinical teaching programs
  • Support research related to early pregnancy assessment, contraception, family planning, and related areas, including coordination of national studies and clinical trials
  • Initiate, design, and conduct research studies relevant to early pregnancy assessment, contraception, family planning, and related areas
Requirements
  • Current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba specialist registry as a generalist Obstetrician Gynecologist
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency or eligibility for permanent residency
  • Eligibility for hospital privileges within Shared Health
  • Eligibility for a University of Manitoba teaching appointment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fellowship in Family Planning and Contraception
  • Advanced training (e.g. MSc or PhD) in epidemiology, research methodology, or program of study to prepare candidates to conduct high-quality medical research
  • Advanced training in early ultrasound for diagnosis of early pregnancy abnormalities
  • Advanced training in first and second trimester procedural abortion
