Convergint Technologies Ltd is a leading provider of integrated security and building automation solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Building Automation Systems Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the design and implementation of our building automation systems. As a Senior Building Automation Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing project mechanical drawings, specifications, and vendor shop drawings, and creating designs for building automation systems. You will also be responsible for creating graphics packages for different projects, as required.

This role involves working on a variety of projects, primarily larger and more complex ones. You will need to ensure that your work meets established quality standards and that projects are designed efficiently and meet required timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create different HVAC mechanical graphical backgrounds along with point identification and mapping/binding of those points with the database on the Graphical User Interface.
  • Carry out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications, and contracts to determine and advise on overall project requirements; estimating and design.
  • Provide input, reviews, and may prepare shop drawings and wiring diagrams, based on project plans and specifications, showing location of devices, equipment, and wiring etc.
  • Perform QAQC tasks, preparing and/or reviewing formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support each contract.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, clients, contractors, partners, and vendors to manage the Engineering design of the project in a successful manner.
  • Advise Project Managers regarding appropriate products needed for installation, identifying any items which have longer lead times, and assist them with change order estimation, BOM, and design.
  • Provide on-site assistance with the graphics creation, mapping/binding, and training.
  • Proactively communicate engineering schedules, change order proposals (as applicable), and related engineering activities on a regular basis with the Project Manager and seek to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Assist the Project Manager in utilizing financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and provide timely and accurate project cost reports; identify reasons for low productivity on engineering and determine concurrent impact on the project.
  • Act as a technical resource and support to sales executives, including attending pre-booking meetings and turnover meetings.
  • Prepare graphics databases as well as ready-to-learn programming for computer-based systems.
  • Using technical knowledge, skills, and experience, act as a mentor and provide training for less-experienced staff. Provide performance feedback to management regarding Designers, Engineering Specialist I, and II.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems. Previous exposure to AutoCAD software is required, and you should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

You should be highly proficient in computer skills, including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), AutoCAD, and/or viewing software. Solid networking and IT skills, particularly in Building Automation, are also essential.

A minimum of seven years of BAS design or BAS technical experience is required, as well as a minimum of five years of AutoCAD experience. A degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Salary and Benefits
