About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer Team Lead to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a key member of our Mechanical Equipment Engineering department, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, and testing of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and oversight to design activities, including technical review and verification of documentation and/or drawings.
  • Project Management: Facilitate the preparation of proper plans and schedules, take ownership of cost/schedule commitments, and maintain task surveillance through active engagement with the team.
  • Team Management: Lead a team of engineers, provide guidance and support, and ensure the team is working effectively to meet project goals.
  • Communication: Provide technical support to CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Commissioning and Service personnel, and participate in internal and external meetings.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify project risks, analyze solutions, and take decisive action to resolve issues and communicate these to the leadership and/or executive team as required.
Requirements
  • Education: B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Typically requires 15 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team.
