About the Role

BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group in Peterborough, Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and development meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Commissioning and Service personnel.
  • Lead by example, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, quality systems, policies, and contractual requirements.
Requirements
  • B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Current PEO license or working towards it.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Proven track record of supporting leadership on complex engineering projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, and ability to work in a team environment.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Inventor/Solidworks) and FEA software (ANSYS).
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
