We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, carrying out all payroll processing tasks in Workday, and processing requests for new hires, employee changes, leaves, and terminations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees
  • Carry out all payroll processing tasks in Workday
  • Process requests for new hires, employee changes, leaves, and terminations
  • Act as a point of contact for any payroll-related questions or requests
  • Calculate and prepare remittances for source deductions, garnishees, group insurance, pension plans, etc.
  • Process and submit online to Service Canada the Records of Employment
  • Process Statistics Canada surveys
  • Provide employment letters
  • Manage and validate payroll information for overseas employees
  • Process all invoices related to payroll and social benefits
  • Perform all tasks related to payroll accounting
  • Send monthly, certain deposit notices
  • Process monthly international transfers for retirees
  • Address employee payroll concerns or inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with payroll procedures
  • Participate in various payroll audits
  • Manage the year-end process
Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience in Canadian accounting and payroll processing
  • Diploma in accounting
  • National Payroll Institute (NPI) certification (an asset)
  • Experience with payroll software (Workday an asset)
  • Knowledge of MS Excel
  • Knowledge of Canadian labor law, payroll legislation and accounting principles
  • Excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
