We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Dispatcher to join our team at the University of Alberta. As a Dispatcher, you will be the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls, providing assistance, information, and direction to callers in a professional and courteous manner.

Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual with excellent communication skills to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch UAPS personnel as required, and maintain status and location of members in the field.

About the Role: As a Dispatcher, you will work closely with our Sergeant and Inspector to ensure that emergency and non-emergency situations are handled efficiently and effectively. You will prioritize calls, respond to public inquiries, and provide assistance and information to callers. You will also be responsible for maintaining records and updating UAPS databases as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Dispatch UAPS personnel as required to emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Maintain status and location of members in the field
  • Prioritize calls and respond to public inquiries
  • Provide assistance and information to callers
  • Maintain records and update UAPS databases as required

Requirements:

  • Emergency Communications & Response Certificate (or equivalencies with high school diploma and experience)
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Windows-based systems
  • Able to work shift work
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High level of proficiency with Google applications
  • Experience with Omnigo (Report Exec) software
  • Experience working as a dispatcher within a post-secondary environment

Salary: The estimated salary for this role is $61,225.09 per annum, based on the average salary range of $54,764.33 to $73,940.15 mentioned in the job posting.
