The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, one of Canada's premier health-education institutions, invites applications for a Full-Time Academic Intensivist position.

This exciting opportunity is based at the Walter C. McKenzie Health Sciences Centre of the University of Alberta Hospitals and offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research, education, and patient care in Critical Care Medicine.

As an Academic Intensivist, you will have an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level with protected time for research and education. You will be expected to develop and lead innovative research projects, support education portfolio development, and supervise learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead department capacity building in health economic evaluation, achieving national/international recognition;
  • Supervise graduate students and post-doctoral students;
  • Develop and lead a clinical trialist pathway training program;
  • Liaison with Undergraduate Medical Education to facilitate medical student rotations/electives.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with an MD, FRCPC or FRCSC, possess a specialist certificate in Critical Care Medicine, and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

You will also need formal training in health research methods, advanced expertise in health economic evaluation, a proven track record in academic achievements, and demonstrated expertise in education across multi-level learners.

Your Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary for this position is $250,000-$300,000 CAD, depending on experience. The University of Alberta offers a comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan, extended health and dental insurance, and paid time off.
