**Job Summary**

Modern Niagara is seeking a highly skilled Building Operator/4th Class Power Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in our buildings.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain boilers, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and plumbing systems, with a focus on steam, boiler, and hot water units.
  • Maintain the efficient operation of facility equipment and systems, ensuring they operate within design capabilities and meet environmental conditions prescribed by clients.
  • Perform daily communication with supervisors and building personnel on matters related to services.
  • Develop operating instructions and procedures for equipment and systems.
  • Establish and maintain periodic operational testing schedules for critical systems and equipment.
  • Evaluate equipment and systems operationally and provide supervisors with lists of deficiency items and recommendations for improvement.
  • Establish performance standards for each phase of work, adhering to standard practices and quality levels.
  • Escort and observe subcontracted jobs for building services outsourced by clients.
  • Commission elements for new plant.
  • Train new and existing client staff from pre-construction to construction phase.
  • Perform additional duties as required, within the scope of contractual limitations.

**Requirements**

  • Subject matter expert on steam, boiler, and hot water units.
  • TSBC 4th Class Power Engineer Certification or equivalent (TSSA).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with general building maintenance, with experience working in a hospital considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS, Provincial Safety statutes, and basic applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Comfortable with the use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Building Automation System (BAS), and Microsoft Office 2013 applications.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
