Building Operator/ 4th Class Power Engineer

Modern Niagara is seeking a skilled Building Operator/ 4th Class Power Engineer to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of boilers, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and plumbing systems, with a focus on steam, boiler, and hot water units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair boilers, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
  • Develop and implement operating instructions and procedures for equipment and systems.
  • Establish and maintain operational testing schedules for critical systems and equipment.
  • Evaluate equipment and system performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Train new and existing client staff on equipment and system operation.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the team and ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • TSBC 4th Class Power Engineer Certification or equivalent (TSSA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general building maintenance, with experience in a hospital setting an asset.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS, Provincial Safety statutes, and basic applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Comfortable with the use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Building Automation System (BAS), and Microsoft Office 2013 applications.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
