Job Summary

Modern Niagara is seeking a skilled Building Operations Specialist to join our team in the Edmonton region. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our building systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Building Systems: Ensure the smooth operation of boilers, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and plumbing systems, with a focus on steam, boiler, and hot water units.
  • Troubleshoot and Repair Equipment: Identify and resolve issues with building systems and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and Implement Maintenance Schedules: Create and maintain schedules for routine maintenance and repairs to prevent equipment failures and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with supervisors, building personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations: Regularly assess the performance of building systems and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Train and Mentor Colleagues: Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to ensure a high level of technical proficiency and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Adhere to Safety Protocols: Maintain a safe working environment by following established safety procedures and protocols, and reporting any hazards or incidents to management.
Requirements
  • TSBC 4th Class Power Engineer Certification or equivalent (TSSA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general building maintenance, with a focus on steam, boiler, and hot water systems
  • Familiarity with WHMIS and provincial safety statutes
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
