About the Role

As a key member of the Grand & Toy team, the Operations Team Lead will play a crucial role in leading all activities related to production. This includes communicating and supporting associates towards the attainment of unit goals and objectives, building a team performance culture, and establishing and measuring operational goals and achievements for the unit.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operational Leadership: Evaluate and monitor activities, determine labour requirements, allocate associates, monitor performance, and identify system issues.
  2. Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve operational problems; take corrective action to ensure that immediate problems are resolved and root problems addressed.
  3. Associate Support: Communicate and support associates towards the attainment of unit goals and objectives.
  4. Performance Management: Conduct pre-shift meetings, involve associates in problem-solving, and solicit input on performance management initiatives.
  5. Operational Planning: Establish and measure operational goals and achievements based on assessment of current needs (Safety, Quality, and Productivity).
  6. Associate Development: Plan, guide, and evaluate associates and situations to determine necessary actions for best results.
  7. Labour Management: Determine the correct allocations of labour to control labour costs (overtime and allocation of overtime).
  8. Recruitment: Provide input in hiring new associates.
  9. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Liaise with other branch departments, head office, and other branch locations.
  10. Occupational Health and Safety: Participate as an active member of the occupational health & safety committee.
  11. Customer Service: Maintain customer service interactions and vendor relationships.
  12. Reporting and Analysis: Provide timely analysis and reporting of operation and payroll activities including commentary.
  13. Special Projects: Lead or participate in various special projects.
Requirements
  1. Education: Post-secondary, two-year community college diploma in Distribution/Logistics Management is preferred.
  2. Experience: 3-5 years related experience in a large distribution centre is an asset.
  3. Leadership Skills: Proactive solution-oriented leader that can affect and influence behavior and results.
  4. Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills, communication, problem-solving, and people management skills are required.
  5. Additional Skills: Forklift experience is considered an asset.
