Educational Support Specialist

We are seeking multiple full-time Educational Assistants to join our team at Cold Lake Junior High School. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a team environment with a compassionate and energetic individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students.
Cold Lake Junior High School is a vibrant learning community with approximately 475 students in grades 7-9. Our school is dedicated to fostering student potential through academic responsibility, critical thinking, and moral citizenship. We are committed to educating students and developing responsible and ethical citizens for the future.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
- Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
- Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
- Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
- Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
- Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
- Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
Preferred qualifications include:
- Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation
- SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
