Job SummaryWe are seeking multiple full-time Educational Assistants to join our team at Cold Lake Junior High School. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs. About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting students with educational program needs, including social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized plans
- Providing a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation
- Communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure seamless support
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
- Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
- Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
- Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
- Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
- Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
- Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
While not required, the following qualifications would be an asset:
- Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation
- SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
