Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at SYNCREON. As a key member of our Canadian operations, you will be responsible for analyzing and preparing weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle payrolls for submission, ensuring compliance with all applicable provincial and federal wage & hour laws.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze and prepare payrolls for submission, updating employee records to reflect benefits elections, tax, vacation, timekeeping, and other relevant adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, maintaining current knowledge of the same.
- Run and distribute reports weekly for pensions, union dues, donations, garnishments, vacation accruals.
- Process Record of Employment for inactive employees, verifying first and last day worked in the payroll system, creating a spreadsheet file of ROEs, and importing files to Service Canada and distributing internally to site HR.
- Answer inquiries from Service Canada and other government authorities.
- Prepare source deduction remittance files.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, including EHT, employer union fees, WSIB, and deduction reports and reconciliations.
- Support ad hoc information requests and reporting as required.
- Education: Associate degree or equivalent job experience preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience processing Canadian payroll for employee populations over 500 employees.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- SAP experience - minimum 2 years preferred but not required.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience with ADP - Time and attendance, PTO module, and attendance module.
- Quebec payroll experience is preferred.
