Payroll Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at SYNCREON. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing and preparing weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle Canadian payrolls for submission, updating employee records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable provincial and federal wage & hour laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and prepare payrolls for submission, including updating employee records and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Import files from ADP system and prepare and post employee pay statements.
  • Run and distribute reports weekly for pensions, union dues, donations, garnishments, vacation accruals, and other relevant data.
  • Process Record of Employment for inactive employees and verify first & last day worked in payroll system.
  • Answer inquiries from Service Canada and other government authorities.
  • Prepare source deduction remittance files and monthly/quarterly/year-end reporting.
  • Support ad hoc information requests and reporting as required.
Requirements:
  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent job experience preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience processing Canadian payroll for employee populations over 500 employees.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience - minimum 2 years preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience with ADP - Time and attendance, PTO module, and attendance module.
  • Quebec Payroll Experience is preferred.
