About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist to join our team in Mississauga. This is a salaried contract position for 12 months, with an estimated salary of $45,500.

Job Description

This role involves providing individual substance use counselling to youth ages 12-24 at various probation offices across the GTA. You will conduct intakes, assessments, and referrals, as well as deliver presentations to community youth agencies, schools, and parents. Additionally, you will maintain accurate client case notes and files, and collaborate with other youth agency committees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide brief solution-focused and motivational interviewing counselling to youth via probation offices
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, and referrals
  • Deliver presentations to community youth agencies, schools, and parents
  • Maintain accurate client case notes and files
  • Collaborate with other youth agency committees
Requirements:
  • S.W., B.A., College Counselling Diploma or related degree/diploma
  • At least two years experience working with youth at risk
  • Excellent knowledge of the substance use field, particularly regarding youth at risk, homelessness, mental health, and harm reduction
  • Training certificate in LGBTQ2S+ and trans-positivity or related experience
