Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at Smith + Andersen. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing building systems, preparing drawings and specifications, and collaborating with other disciplines to deliver projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing, and drainage systems.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and reports necessary to deliver a project.
- Collaborate with other disciplines, including structural, architectural, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Develop layouts and design of mechanical building systems, including equipment selection and sizing.
- Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and drainage systems.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers for design support and equipment selection.
- Assist in construction administration, including reviewing equipment shop drawings and conducting site visits.
- Five or more years of direct industry experience in mechanical building services.
- Diploma or degree from a mechanical building services or engineering program.
- Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer, with exposure to mechanical layouts and systems.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software.
- Knowledge of municipal and provincial codes and authorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
