We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team at Ombudsman Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Laboratory Specimen Collection Centre Licensing (LSCCLA) Act and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare all background work related to the production and amendments of licenses;
- Plan and conduct routine, follow-up and investigative inspections of specimen collection centres (SCC); and plan and conduct follow-up and investigative inspections of medical laboratory facilities within an assigned area;
- Evaluate procedures and equipment, and ensure that proper procedures are utilized in the facilities;
- Conduct research on medical and scientific literatures, and prepare scientific and technical reports;
- Update and implement operational procedures and policies pertaining to SCCs and laboratories under the LSCCLA;
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) and provide advice and recommend solutions for technical matters and licensing issues.
- You have an active registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO) and without conditions;
- Valid Drivers License. Your ability to travel in Ontario is required in order to conduct off-site specimen collection centre inspections and SCC/laboratory investigations;
- Knowledge of medical laboratory operations including current tests, procedures, equipment, documentation, technical and quality standards, and record keeping practices;
- Knowledge of the LSCCLA Act and its regulations;
- Knowledge of the Ontario Schedule of Benefits for Laboratory Services, biosafety protocols, and relevant legislation and guidelines for governing the licensing and operation of medical laboratories;
- Knowledge of current theories, principles and practices of disciplines where laboratory tests are performed to obtain information for diagnosis, prophylaxis or treatment of patients;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to conduct research and prepare scientific and technical reports;
- Ability to use laboratory data processing applications, MS Access, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and analytical systems to assess data and records, and prepare analytical reports.
