Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Policy Governance Specialist to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting our governing bodies, including the Board of Governors and the Senate, as well as providing expert guidance on internal governance, policy analysis, freedom of information, privacy, and records management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, review, publish, and implement institutional policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with our Policy Framework.
  • Governance Support: Provide support to the governing bodies, their committees, working groups, and project teams, through the University Secretary and General Counsel.
  • Access to Information: Assist in coordinating the University's Access to Information requests process, ensuring timely responses to legislated timeframes.
  • Records Management: Support the application of the records classification system and retention schedule, collaborating with Faculties and Departments on records repositories systems and services, as well as training staff in records management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary training in a related field (public administration, law, business, or human resources) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience drafting various documents, including briefing notes, policies, procedures, and high-level reports.
  • Training or certification in access to information, privacy, and/or records management is an asset.
