About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team as a Second in Command. As a key member of our pastry department, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of sweet and savory pastries, desserts, and other baked goods in accordance with our high standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide range of pastry items, including cakes, pastries, and desserts, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications to ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including fridges, freezers, countertops, and stovetops.
- Ensure that all food products are handled, stored, prepared, and served safely in accordance with hotel and government Food Safety guidelines.
- Report any deficiencies in kitchen equipment functionality and quality of food products to the Pastry Chef or Sous Chef in a timely fashion.
- Participate in health and safety initiatives and adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience, preferably in a luxury hotel with comparable service and standards.
- Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Culinary School an asset.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure and physically fit to lift trays repeatedly, stand, and walk for the duration of the shift.
