Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Care Aide to join our team at Island Health. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health issues.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work in various settings, including residential facilities and community-based programs. The primary goal of this role is to provide personalized support to individuals with mental health conditions, helping them navigate their rehabilitation journey and achieve optimal well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide personal care and support services to individuals with mental health conditions, promoting independence and autonomy.
  • To develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients, utilizing a client-centered approach.
  • To participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • To provide education and life skills training to clients, empowering them to manage their mental health effectively.
  • To maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A diploma in Community Social Services or a related field, along with relevant experience working with individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide Registry.
  • A valid Class 5 vehicle license and a clean driving record.
  • A Food Safe Certificate and Basic Life Saving Certificate (Level C).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
