The Island Health Department of Psychiatry in Victoria is seeking an experienced General Practitioner to join our Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) program. This challenging role involves providing a full range of primary care physician medical services to patients in the Glengarry Transitional Care Unit (GTCU).
Key Responsibilities- Assume the Most Responsible Physician role for patients in the GTCU, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Meet weekly with staff and patients on the unit, fostering open communication and collaboration.
- Engage with patients as clinically appropriate, conducting regular check-ins at least once every two weeks.
- Provide timely admission orders for new patients, ensuring a smooth transition into the GTCU.
- Collaborate with staff and program leadership on quality improvement initiatives, driving excellence in patient care.
- Liaise effectively with other service providers to ensure comprehensive client care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, supporting informed decision-making and continuity of care.
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold or be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
Estimated Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000 per year-
