**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition care to patients with various medical conditions.

About the Role:

  • Assess patient nutritional needs and develop personalized plans to restore or maintain optimal nutrition status.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide high-quality, cost-effective nutrition care.
  • Prescribe and implement diet and nutrition-related therapies, including therapeutic diets, nutritional supplements, and enteral/parenteral support.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families on nutrition therapy for disease prevention and wellness.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments of patients, including medical history, lab values, diet history, and medication information.
  • Develop and implement appropriate nutrition plans, taking into account patient diagnosis, medical condition, and nutritional status.
  • Prescribe and initiate nutrition therapies, including therapeutic diets, nutritional supplements, and enteral/parenteral support.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to align interventions with goals of care.
Patient Education and Counseling
  • Teach patients and families about nutrition therapy for disease prevention and wellness.
  • Provide personalized guidance on meal planning, nutrition labels, and cooking techniques.
  • Offer ongoing support and follow-up care to ensure optimal nutrition outcomes.
Professional Development
  • Stay current with industry developments and research through ongoing education and training.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees to contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Share expertise and knowledge with colleagues through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • Current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the State of Illinois.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
