About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Conference Coordinator to join our team at Halifax Tower Hotel Ltd. in a permanent position.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in event planning, coordination, and execution. As a Senior Conference Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and delivery of conferences, meetings, and other events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop risk management plans and emergency security protocols to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Promote conference and meeting services or special events to clients and stakeholders.
  • Select and inspect venues, negotiating contracts and managing logistics as required.
  • Manage event budgets, coordinating financial procedures and ensuring accurate accounting.
  • Determine requirements for hospitality services, signage, multi-media equipment, printing, and other technical services, arranging contracts as needed.
  • Arrange for production or purchase of promotional products, shipping, receiving, and storage as necessary.
  • Co-ordinate media services, set-ups, staging, seating, parking, communication systems, and other details for special events.
  • Confirm and co-ordinate speakers, implementing registration systems and information materials as required.
  • Implement social programs, food and beverage, transportation, and other services, ensuring seamless event execution.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • 5+ years of experience in event planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related field.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage teams and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate contracts and manage relationships.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
