Senior Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Buildings practice in Winnipeg. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading mechanical design efforts on various projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality designs that meet our clients' needs.
Key Responsibilities- Design Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior designers, ensuring that designs meet our quality standards and are delivered on time.
- Design Development: Prepare schematics, details, and sketches during conceptual and design development stages, utilizing your expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- System Design: Assist in the design of building-related mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
- Equipment Selection: Conduct or review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs to ensure optimal system performance.
- Construction Documentation: Oversee and guide the production team in producing construction documents that meet codes, design standards, and project design intent.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineer of Record and Mechanical Team to produce construction drawings and specifications.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior designers to develop their skills and knowledge in mechanical design.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.
- Construction Administration: Assist with periodic construction administration tasks, including preparing documentation for site instructions or change requests.
- Quality Control: Perform thorough quality control of construction documents.
- Education: Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of working experience in the buildings industry.
- Skills: Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is an asset.
- Location: Able to work at Stantec Portage Avenue office in Winnipeg.
