Conduct Stages 2-4 archaeological field work under the guidance of a field supervisor. Identify and recover Indigenous and Euro-Canadian artifacts as instructed by the site supervisor. Prioritize Health and Safety protocols and adhere to all AECOM procedures. Willingness to travel extensively across Ontario for extended periods. Take on a junior leadership role during field operations. Assist the Field Supervisor with technical aspects of field work. Contribute to the training of new team members. Set an example for teammates and undertake additional tasks as assigned by field supervisors or management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma + 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork (lift up to 40lbs and be capable of repetitive movement).
  • Can communicate information, issues, concerns related to the site work in an effective and professional manner to Field Supervisor.
  • Will attend work in a timely manner, prepared for all weather conditions and ensuring appropriate weather gear is readily available.
  • Reliable transportation to and from assigned office or designated project meet spot is essential.
  • Sensitivity and awareness combined with a respectful attitude towards Indigenous culture and people is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology or anthropology.
  • Proven ability to recognize cultural material and collect in a controlled manner.
  • Proven physical ability and care when conducting excavations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to support Field Supervisor with technical aspects of archaeology & leading the team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MCM Standards & Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists
