Archaeology Field Technician II

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Archaeology Field Technician II to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our archaeological team, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, including Stage 2 surveys, Stage 3 site-specific assessments, and Stage 4 mitigations, under the supervision of an experienced Field Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including surveying, test pitting, and excavation, in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Assist in the collection and maintenance of detailed field notes, as required.
- Support Field Supervisors and provide assistance where needed.
- Participate in a team environment, providing support to other field technicians and assisting with field activities, as required.
- Maintain a high standard of ethical and professional behavior and demonstrate a "Safety First" focus.
- Ability to work daily at field site locations, with a willingness to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including remote or isolated areas, and in inclement weather.
- Physical ability to perform demanding and repetitive movement tasks, such as hand shoveling, troweling, and screening soil/earth, and to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate information, questions, and concerns related to the site work to Field Supervisors in a professional and timely manner.
- Ability to work well as part of a team, or independently when required.
- Valid Ontario driver's license and clean drivers abstract, with reliable transportation to and from designated WSP E&I Canada Limited project sites or offices.
- Knowledge of archaeological artifacts and a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, considered an asset.
- At least three (3) field seasons of archaeological experience in Ontario, including shovel testing and test unit excavation, is a requirement.
