Job Description

As a Compliance Implementation Specialist at Ontario Transit Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our transportation project construction adheres to federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations. Your expertise will be essential in monitoring and assessing environmental conditions, conducting site inspections, and communicating findings to project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure regulatory adherence and compliance with environmental permits, approvals, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess environmental conditions, including air quality, water quality, and soil quality.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential environmental hazards and provide expert guidance on mitigation measures.
  • Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and compliance requirements to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with environmental consultants, community groups, and stakeholders to communicate environmental plans and address concerns.
  • Support and advise the Environmental Team in comprehensive environmental compliance reports to regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams, contractors, and subcontractors on environmental best practices, regulations, and protocols.
  • Sustain and support sustainability initiatives within the project, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, green procurement, and biodiversity conservation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in infrastructure construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing environmental management systems and compliance strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex environmental data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of environmental monitoring equipment and software.
