Compliance Risk Specialist

Apex Systems is seeking a seasoned Compliance Risk Specialist to support our client, a top 5 bank in Downtown Toronto. This role is critical in building a robust compliance framework that meets regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute key control tests to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Enhance operational processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline testing procedures and improve efficiency.
  • Build and maintain a central repository for testing documentation to serve as a valuable resource for the organization.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing around business controls, focusing on all non-financial risks, and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to design infrastructure capable of effective risk assessment within the first line of defense.
  • Identify gaps in current audit automation infrastructure and propose solutions for improvement, standardizing procedure documentation to ensure consistency across business units.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in compliance risk within the financial industry.
  • Experience in building compliance frameworks from scratch, with RSA certification advantageous.
  • Expertise in process enhancement and implementation of centralized systems for operational efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements related to monitoring and testing controls.
  • Ability to critically review existing infrastructures and translate findings into standardized formats for broader application.
