Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join our team at Lush. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and guidance to our business leaders and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Matters: Provide strategic legal advice on commercial transactions, contracts, and agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Contract Negotiations: Prepare, draft, and review contract negotiations for all business areas, ensuring that our interests are protected and that we achieve our commercial objectives.
  • Legislative Compliance: Ensure that our business operations are compliant with the latest legislation and regulations, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Drive collaboration with various stakeholders locally and globally, ensuring that legal matters are effectively and efficiently managed.
  • Agreement Management: Maintain the electronic management of all agreements, keeping the Finance team updated and ensuring that all agreements are properly executed and recorded.
  • Corporate Matters: Provide guidance and support on corporate organizational legal matters, including corporate reorganizations, change of officers/directors, and other tasks.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare, draft, and review corporate legal documentation, including bank resolutions, corporate reorganizations, change of officers/directors, and other tasks.
  • Notarization: Notarize legal documents as required, ensuring that all documents are properly executed and recorded.
  • Contract Review: Review and advise on legal contracts and agreements, ensuring that our interests are protected and that we achieve our commercial objectives.
  • Tax and Regulatory Advice: Advise business leaders on tax matters, government regulations, and/or legal rights, ensuring that our business operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Employment Issues: Partner with the HR Compliance Manager on highly sensitive employment issues, ensuring that our business operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Ideally, degree qualified with at least 5+ years post-qualification experience in commercial law or equivalent experience relevant to the role.
  • Experience: Recent experience of working for a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge and familiarity with corporate law and commercial law in both Canada and US.
  • Skills: Able to work independently, prioritize, and manage large complex workloads to tight deadlines. Proactive, solutions-driven approach. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Flexibility and commitment to accommodate additional work demands as required.
  • Certifications: Current member of a law society in Canada or US.
Location and Type

The preferred location of the successful candidate will be Vancouver, British Columbia. Potential flexibility for the role to be North America remote dependent on business needs. This is a hybrid position.
