About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team at Doctors of BC. As a key member of our Legal and Governance Division, you will play a crucial role in guiding our organization through complex legal challenges and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal leadership and guidance to the organization, aligning with our strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement legal frameworks, policies, and practices to support our growing organization and new in-house legal team.
  • Manage external legal counsel and in-house legal professionals, promoting a culture of service excellence and ethical integrity.
  • Provide accurate and practical advice on corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, risk management, and governance issues.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review complex contracts to protect our interests.
Requirements
  • A Law Degree (JD or equivalent) with active membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in non-profit, healthcare, government, or Crown corporation environments.
  • Proven people leadership and team development skills within a legal setting.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex legal issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to varied audiences.
