Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee and Labor Relations
    • Provide expert advice and guidance on employee and labor relations, including interpretation and application of collective agreements and HR policies.
    • Work collaboratively with managers and union representatives to resolve issues and find mutually beneficial solutions.
    • Participate in labor management committees and grievance resolution meetings.
    • Contribute to collective bargaining and provide input on bargaining proposals.
  • Strategic Recruitment and Selection
    • Develop and implement TRU's employment brand and recruitment and selection strategy to attract top talent.
    • Collaborate with portfolio leaders to develop workforce plans that meet the organization's needs.
    • Ensure recruitment and selection practices are compliant with collective agreements and procedures.
  • Organization Development & Learning
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for leadership development, including orientation and training initiatives, on-the-job learning opportunities, and stretch assignments.
    • Lead the development and implementation of TRU's performance management programs, including coaching and advising portfolio leaders on effective performance and development planning.
    • Conduct investigations into complaints of harassment, conflict of interest, professional misconduct, discrimination, and abuse, and provide guidance on appropriate action to mitigate and respond to complaints.
    • Research, develop, and promote employee development programs to support TRU's strategic goals and enhance employee skills.
    • Ensure consistency and internal equity across the organization related to compensation and salary administration.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Provide regular reports and updates to the Director, HR Strategic Partnerships on key initiatives and projects.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization to ensure successful implementation of HR initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum four years of experience in a complex, multi-union, public sector environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with employees at all levels, including union representatives.
    • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to provide sound professional advice and direction for all aspects of Human Resources.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Demonstrated experience in delivering presentations to large and small groups.
    • Ability to supervise and mentor other People and Culture staff.
