Farm Worker Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our farm team as a Farm Worker. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to crop farming, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply fertilizers to crops as instructed
  • Use the technique of hoeing between rows to maintain crop health
  • Clean crops to ensure quality
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
  • Clear fields of wood and stones to maintain crop growth
  • Cut agricultural crops according to farm standards
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
  • Dose water, light, and temperature as instructed to promote crop growth and development
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades based on size, shape, color, and volume to maximize market value
  • Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions
  • Hand harvest vegetables and fruits
  • Harvest seedlings to ensure crop growth
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy, and grapes
  • Mix fertilizers according to instructions
  • Monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns to ensure animal health and well-being
  • Monitor animal health and take necessary actions
  • Pack fruits and vegetables for market
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops according to farm standards
  • Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts to promote healthy crop growth
  • Seed cutting to ensure crop growth
  • Weed crops to prevent competition and ensure healthy growth
  • Clean work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Fertilize and spray crops according to instructions
  • Harvest crops to ensure market demand is met

  • Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees
  • Recruit newcomers and refugees who have been displaced by conflict or natural disasters
  • Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees

Support for Youth:

  • Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment

Support for Veterans:

  • Participate in government or community programs that support veterans

Support for Indigenous People:

  • Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations
  • Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
  • Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers

Support for Mature Workers:

  • Participate in government or community programs that support mature workers

Supports for Visible Minorities:

  • Participate in government or community programs that support members of visible minorities
  • Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities
