The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the IWK Health Centre. Reporting to the Manager General Pediatric Medicine, this advanced practice role will involve providing comprehensive care to children and adolescents requiring intervention and follow-up.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner focus and be licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia. They will also have a minimum of two years' experience in Pediatric Medical nursing and be able to work autonomously as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnosing, and managing the clinical care of children requiring care. They will also work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing and inter-professional care.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and people skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to constantly changing situations. They will also be committed to patient safety and continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage the clinical care of children requiring care
  • Work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing and inter-professional care
  • Develop, promote, and maintain interdisciplinary collaboration in a team environment
  • Participate in planning and implementing change related to clinical, educational, and research issues
  • Provide leadership and modeling of behavior related to nursing practice issues

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner focus
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • Minimum two years' experience in Pediatric Medical nursing
  • Ability to work autonomously as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
