Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Admissions Clerk to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre.

About the Role

This full-time position is responsible for ensuring seamless admissions processes, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and verify personal and financial information from patients and families;
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive patient data;
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies;
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to resolve admission-related issues;
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding promptly to inquiries and concerns;
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Administrative Assistant diploma preferred;
  • Minimum one year of experience in an admissions office or medical/health setting;
  • Proficiency in electronic patient record systems and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines;
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations and knowledge of Indigenous customs and traditions;
  • Typing/keyboarding skills (40 wpm) and medical terminology expertise;
  • Knowledge of computer software and applications, including Windows and Microsoft Office;
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Meets deadlines, exercises judgment, and demonstrates initiative;
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and pressures of the job, using tact and patience;
  • Functional proficiency in two or more admissions areas upon completion of the probationary period;
Estimated Salary Range

$45,000 - $60,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
