Shared Health leads the planning and coordination of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The Healthcare Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and effective clinical health services delivery and facility operations for a site/local geographical area when the health services leadership team is not available.

This position requires leadership capabilities, as demonstrated by the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework adopted by the provincial health system in Manitoba. The manager will actively engage in providing leadership to staff to achieve operational priorities such as Financial Sustainability, Patient Flow, Patient Experience, Quality/Safety, and Staff Engagement.

  • Ensuring strong communication pathways between onsite staff, scheduling, and managers.
  • Rearranging staff or requesting units/ departments to provide service for patients/residents/clients.
  • Fostering/facilitating interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships to ensure high-standard patient/resident/client care through modeling care and service with compassion and respect.
  • Supporting system flow by facilitating transfers to and from other facilities based on capacity management protocols and patient/resident/client needs.
  • Making decisions and ensuring availability of staff based on sick calls and required short-term scheduling impacts to maintain safe operation of clinical services including working with agencies.
  • Supporting implementation and change initiatives.
  • Managing emergency situations that arise and supporting staff well-being and communication protocols based on approved algorithms and pathways.

The position covers a mix of evenings/weekends/nights/statutory holidays and opportunities to provide relief on day shift. A valid class 5 Manitoba driver's license and access to a personal motor vehicle are required for travel to other healthcare facilities within the Shared Health region.

Requirements

This role requires:

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in a patient/resident/client care setting.
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant health discipline from an accredited institution.
  • An active membership in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, following the LEADS framework.

The estimated salary range for this position is $73,000 - $92,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
