Laboratory Technologist II, Multi Functional Lab Core Lab

Job Summary
Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technologist II to join our team. As a Laboratory Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing additional procedures for the majority of the time, as well as routine procedures in various sections of the laboratory as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform additional procedures for the majority of the time, following established departmental procedures.
- Collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients as required.
- Perform maintenance on related equipment and report equipment malfunctions to the Section Head.
- Perform all clerical and written tasks associated with additional and routine procedures, and compile statistics as required.
- Ensure that quality control standards are met and report problems to the Section Head as they occur.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
- Assist with the orientation of new staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one year's recent, related experience. Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to facilitate positive change.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize workload assignments and set priorities.
- Ability to develop and present educational material.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
