Job Summary

The Veterinary Support Specialist will play a critical role in providing high-quality animal care and support services to our research team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. This position requires a highly skilled and dedicated individual who is passionate about animal health and welfare.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Animal Health Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal health care, with a minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience working with animals. A certificate or diploma in veterinary technology and CALAS certification at the RLAT or RLAT(R) level are essential requirements for this position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to scientists and research technicians, as well as ensuring that all animal procedures are carried out in accordance with established standards and guidelines. They will also be required to train new staff members on animal procedures and departmental policies, and maintain accurate records of animal health and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical support to scientists and research technicians in the conduct of animal procedures
- Ensure compliance with animal-related standards, CCAC guidelines, and federal, provincial, and local regulations
- Train new staff members on animal procedures and departmental policies
- Maintain accurate records of animal health and treatment

Requirements

- Certificate or diploma in veterinary technology
- Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience working with animals
- CALAS certification at the RLAT or RLAT(R) level
- Strong knowledge of animal-related standards and guidelines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

What We Offer

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a salary range of $55,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
