Strategic Development Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Development Officer to join our team at the University of Lethbridge. In this role, you will play a key part in securing major gifts and building philanthropic relationships with alumni and friends of the university.
Job DescriptionAs a Strategic Development Officer, you will work under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy and Information Services to create strong relationships and build philanthropic engagement between the university and its stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
- Analysing donor potential and developing strategies to secure gifts;
- Executing research, proposals, and briefing notes for senior administrators;
- Maintaining confidentiality and executing highly sensitive meetings with donors;
- Building relationships with stakeholders through face-to-face meetings, campus tours, events, emails, phone calls, and letters;
- Matching donor interests with university fundraising priorities and advising donors on opportunities to donate;
- Ensuring compliance with university gift acceptance policies and accurate recording of gifts and donor history;
- Collaborating with campus partners to identify and articulate university fundraising priorities and opportunities;
- Providing philanthropic counsel across the institution on major gifts and other issues related to CRA compliance, donor relations, fundraising strategy, ethics, and gift negotiations.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree;
- Minimum 4-7 years of progressive experience in securing major gifts, preferably in higher education;
- Possession of CFRE certification is an asset;
- Active membership in AFP or CAGP is an asset.
The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary range of $63,255.50 - $95,896.11 annually (APO - Grade 3), as well as the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The starting salary is estimated at $63,255.50 annually. Please note that the salary range may be adjusted as a result of the ongoing job classification and compensation review project.
