Strategic Development Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing activities for all aspects of the donor development cycle, achieving and/or exceeding fundraising goals by managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors, building relationships with stakeholders, and making requests to potential donors of $25,000+ in accordance with the University's objectives.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can analyze, interpret, and determine the ability, capacity, linkage, and interest of individuals, corporations, and foundations to donate to the University. You will develop and execute research, proposals, donor strategies, and briefing notes for volunteers and senior administrators while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and executing research, proposals, donor strategies, and briefing notes for volunteers and senior administrators;
- Executing highly confidential meetings with potential donors to collect an inventory of their interests and ability to donate;
- Building relationships with potential donors through internal and external face-to-face meetings, campus tours, events, emails, phone calls, and letters;
- Matching potential donors' interests with approved fundraising priorities and advising them on opportunities to donate;
- Preparing and providing regular updates to donors on the impact of their gift, demonstrating the University's gratitude and encouraging further donations;
- Ensuring compliance with University gift acceptance policies and accurate recording of gifts and donor history in the CRM;
- Collaborating with campus partners to identify and articulate University fundraising priorities and opportunities to prospective donors;
- Providing philanthropic counsel across the institution on major gifts and other issues related to CRA compliance, donor relations, fundraising strategy, ethics, and gift negotiations.
Requirements: A Bachelor's degree is preferred, along with a minimum 4-7 years of progressive experience in securing major gifts of $25,000 or more and deferred gifts/bequests. Preference is given to candidates with CFRE certification. Active membership in AFP or CAGP is an asset. The successful candidate will also require a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Compensation: The estimated salary range for this position is between $63,255.50 and $95,896.11 annually.
