The Role

We are seeking an Admitting Clerk to join our Day Surgery team at IWK Health. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of reception and clerical duties to ensure the efficient operation of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data entry for in-patient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer, and pre-registrations
  • Transport functions in accordance with unit and IWK Health policies
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies
  • Specific auditing functions
  • Point Pleasant Lodge reservations
  • Arranging for shift coverage

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Emergency experience preferred
  • Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Competency in other languages an asset
