Job Title: Director of Resident Wellbeing and Engagement

We are seeking an experienced Health and Wellness Director to join our team at Aspen Heights Retirement Residence in Calgary.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive activity program designed to enhance the quality of life for our residents. This includes planning, directing, and coordinating activities that cater to their physical, emotional, and social needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional who is passionate about creating engaging experiences for seniors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreational therapy, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that promote physical, emotional, and social wellbeing among residents;
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of care services;
  • Provide guidance and support to staff members on resident-centered care practices;
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them;
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and program outcomes;
  • Work closely with management to establish policies and procedures that promote high-quality care.
Requirements
  • Diploma/certification in recreational therapy or related field;
  • Diploma in recreation/leisure studies;
  • Course(s) in Gerontology and Activities/Recreation are desirable;
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • At least two years of experience working in a retirement residence with Independent and Assisted Living/Memory Care residents;
  • Knowledge of program development and implementation;
  • First Aid Certification is an asset;
  • Class 4 Driver's License is an asset;
  • Received at least two doses of a Health Canada-approved Covid-19 vaccine.
