The successful candidate will assist the Executive Director in leading the team, with a primary goal of reducing emissions and achieving net zero status by 2050. The Director will also support Alberta's transition to a low-carbon energy jurisdiction by attracting investment in emerging energy technologies and opportunities.

The Director oversees all aspects of program delivery and issue resolution, collaborating with the management team in the Branch. Long-term environmental scanning and risk management are critical components of this role, ensuring Alberta's competitiveness in attracting investments in low carbon energy opportunities.

The successful candidate will support the development and improvement of regulatory regimes to incentivize investment in hydrogen, ammonia, helium, lithium, liquefied natural gas, geothermal, and mineral development in the province.

Key responsibilities include anticipating opportunities, adapting quickly, and making effective decisions. The ability to see the big picture, recommend solutions, and leverage critical analysis skills and a viable network of stakeholders and resources is essential for success in this role.
