Contract Management Role

About the Role:

  • Manage commercial and contractual issues in agreement with the Project Manager.
  • Lead change management, including schedule interpretation and claims administration.
  • Implement a system to ensure timely delivery of contractually required notices to the client.
  • Administer project contracts, including project agreements, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, and purchase agreements.
  • Ensure contract deliverables and timelines are met, minimizing commercial risk on project contracts.
  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation phases of contracts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Implement and monitor procurement scheduling and plans, facilitating competitive tendering for materials, goods, services, and equipment.
  • Engage with Aecon's insurance advisors to develop project insurance programs and coverages.
  • Exercise judgment to engage with Aecon's legal advisors for advice at the appropriate times.
  • Develop a risk management and mitigation plan to identify potential project risks.
  • Proactively analyze project risks in the bid phase.
  • Manage project close out and post-practical completion, including defect liability and O&M.
  • Lead and mentor a team of direct reports on project objectives and goals.
  • Good understanding of finance, accounting, and project reporting.

Requirements:

  • Legal or engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of construction law, negotiating, and drafting construction contracts.
  • Knowledge of project operations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction.
  • 10 years' experience working for a contractor on large-scale projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years commercial management experience on major projects with different partners.
  • Understanding of construction planning, scheduling, and management.
  • Experience dealing with labor obligations and their impact on the project.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Outstanding decision-making ability and negotiation skills.
