About the Job

The Representative for Children and Youth's Office is seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist to join our team in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to work with us to ensure that legislation, policies, procedures, programs, and services provide ethical, equitable, and consistent outcomes for young Nunavummiut and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the interests of children and youth in Nunavut
  • Conduct individual and systemic advocacy to promote the rights and well-being of young people
  • Review critical injuries and deaths to identify systemic issues and make recommendations for improvement
  • Provide public awareness, outreach, and education functions to promote the rights and well-being of children and youth
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of child and youth advocacy principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
