Job Title: Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist

Join the Representative for Children and Youth's Office in Iqaluit, Nunavut, as a Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist. This is a term position ending March 31, 2024, and is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.

About the Role

The Representative for Children and Youth's Office is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly. Our mission is to ensure that legislation, policies, procedures, programs, and services provide ethical, equitable, and consistent outcomes for young Nunavummiut and their families.

As a Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist, you will work to promote the rights and well-being of children and youth in Nunavut. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individual advocacy and support to children and youth
  • Conducting systemic advocacy to promote positive change
  • Participating in reviews of critical injuries and deaths
  • Providing public awareness, outreach, and education functions
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of child and youth advocacy principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
