Main Purpose and Function

The Health Facility Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and respectful delivery of personal hygiene programs and services at the Gathering Place Health Centre. This position involves assisting patrons in accessing essential services, including laundry, showers, and first aid, while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff, volunteers, patrons, and community members.
  • Assess patrons' hygiene needs and provide guidance on necessary procedures to address their treatment needs.
  • Administer basic first aid and maintain applicable records.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to volunteers in the delivery of health-related services.
  • Monitor patron behavior and ensure Centre rules and standards of behavior are being observed.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members.
Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the needs and challenges of persons impacted by marginalization, including poverty, homelessness, and social isolation. They will also have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.

A St. John Ambulance Safety Certificate is also required. The candidate must be able to perform a variety of personal care and manual tasks, including standing, lifting, and bending throughout the shift.
